Inheritance’s first exhibition was Operations of Sound at the Old Operating Theatre Museum in London Bridge in November and December 2007.
A sonic and visual intervention’ this exhibition and events programme is a site of exploration of the museum through contemporary artworks. The installation, video and performances created altered aural and visual contexts through which could engaged with the museum's architecture and collection of material medica. Inheritance commissioned the new work Flow by photographer, Tim Wainwright and sound artist, John Wynne. Flow, a multi-screen video and sound installation using manipulated material from the artists’ residency at Harefield NHS Hospital. This was installed amongst the museum’s collection in the herb garret.
In addition, there was a looped screening of the artist’s film ITU in the adjacent operating theatre. On the closing night of the installation run, performance artists and percussionist Charles Hayward and the sound artists, GOWNS, presented commissioned performances in the tiered operating theatre. Their performances involving sound and movement were in direct response to the environment, addressing the theatricality and delicacy of surgical operations.
